To see in Aachen

Elisengarten

Elisengarden, located just behind the famous Elisenbrunnen, offers visitors a pleasant green space right in the heart of Aachen.

While the park itself dates back to 1851, very little of its original layout remains today, as it has been significantly modernized over the years. The current design, with its lawns and walking paths, offers a calm retreat in the middle of the city, perfect for a short break or a leisurely stroll.

A standout feature is a modern circular, translucent structure that was added in 2013, which covers archaeological excavations found in the park. This blend of history and modern architecture offers a unique experience for those looking to learn more about the city’s ancient past.

As you walk through the park, you’ll also come across the “Kreislauf des Geldes” fountain, installed in 1976. It’s said that tossing a coin into the fountain brings good luck, making it a fun stop for both locals and tourists.
