To see in Aachen

Haus Löwenstein

Haus Löwenstein is one of the city’s most iconic medieval buildings. Built in the late 14th century, the structure has survived centuries of wars and city transformations, making it a key witness to Aachen’s long history.

The building was initially constructed as a patrician house, representing the wealth and status of Aachen’s prominent citizens. Over time, it has served various purposes, including functioning as a public space for meetings and official events.

Its Gothic façade, with pointed arches and decorative elements, reflects the architectural style of the period and stands as a reminder of Aachen’s importance during the Middle Ages. And although the interior has been modernized over the years, Haus Löwenstein still retains much of its medieval character.
